Allied Health Professions Admissions Test (AHPAT)
|
|

The Allied Health Professions Admissions Test (AHPAT) is an admission test used to evaluate academic achievement and knowledge of the applicants who are applying for baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate courses of study in allied health medical schools in the US and Canada. The test was introduced in 1974 and is administered by Pearson Education.

Structure of the Test
|
The AHPAT is about 3.5 hours’ (210 minutes) test, which aims to test general academic ability and scientific aptitude of the applicants for successful completion of graduate education. The test has approximately 300 in a multiple choice questions format.

The AHPAT test is divided into separate sections: Biology (50 questions), Inorganic Chemistry (30 questions), Organic Chemistry (30 questions), Reading Comprehension (45 questions), and Quantitative Ability (50 questions).

One high point of the AHPAT is that it allows the students with lower grades or who have very challenging courses of study to prove their competence in this exam. However, the AHPAT test is only a first step in the admission process for selection to qualify for the seats in the allied health medical schools.

The AHPAT is generally conducted four times a year in the months of September, November, January, and April.

Conclusion

The allied health related schools are always referred to review the important sections of the exam. Also, the AHPAT exam has been updated and changed as per the curriculum development in these schools.
